Letter to the VP about not asking me to freelance
VP, I certainly don’t want to jump in and criticize and new organizational policies that (company) is making, but did want to address something that I heard and feel has negatively impacted my business.
Today I was made aware that I should not finish quoting (company) for some work that I was asked to do. I have also been made aware from a few people that there were some rumors surrounding my termination, one of which regarded police involvement during my visits to (company). You broke the news to me about my position and obviously saw that it didn’t make me happy. I think you also know me and understand that if I were to work with (company) as a contractor I could provide value and understanding in the areas you are needing service.
I want to assure you that if (company) were to contract to me I would work only in the utmost professional manner and I can guarantee that the work would be satisfactory and quite worth the fees that I charge.
I just ask you to consider one thing, as a friend and business person, mostly as a business person. If you are making a policy change about contracting to people that you have terminated I understand, but if the decision to not work with me was due in part or whole to a slanderous rumor that spread about me I would ask you and the leadership team to reconsider.
I had hoped that when I left (company), it would be on good terms and there may be a continuing business relationship. This sort of behavior certainly has precedent at (company). It is for that reason, that I question the decision to not work with me. I hope you understand my request.
Other than that, I still hope to maintain a friendly relationship with many employees at the company and would appreciate that any further false statements about my behavior be stopped. It kind of just makes me sad to think that this is how it would end, on a rumor with no truth.
Peace! Have a good day, and good luck with everything. Me
